You enjoy flying. The $100 hamburger. The freedom to travel on your schedule. However, someone in your family is concerned about being in a light aircraft. This concern can range from being nervous in the airplane to not even getting in the airplane. This fear can impact your joy of flying, or worse, you not flying at all. The reason for this fear ranges from concern to what would happen if you became incapacitated to not understanding what is happening during the flight with all the radio chatter, instruments, etc. (its not like just jumping in the car and going). I have been there myself. My kids grew up in the airplane, but other family members didn't and those first few flights where rough, but over time, they enjoy the trips away. What started out as even light turbulence invoking a level of discomfort, has become them sleeping through summer bumps on long cross countries.
While there is no silver bullet, spending time with a "non family member" to discuss light aviation can help. They may never see the same joy as you, they may become "ok" with flying, and with that your joy will increase.
